Building Quality in - a SAFe Core Principle - Click Here for More Info
Shaji K Namath, Associate Director, IBM" In Agile world teams are required to move faster and reduce length of delivery. However expectation is that there is no compromise on quality. This will mean that there is need for testing early and more involvement from the developer community on testing. Instead of testing at the end, agile team define and execute tests early and multiple levels. SAFe framework encourage this shift in testing focus and helps every one to think about testing early in the development process. Instead of developing a code and testing, the whole approach is to write test first and develop code to pass the test criteria"

Anatomy of Model Based Testing - Click Here for More Info
Mrinal Chatterjee,Practice Head – Test Design Automation, Tech MahindraWhat makes Model Based Testing (MBT) the highest ranked key automation technique in 2020 according to testing industry experts? (World Quality Report 2019-2020) It’s the need to improve test design. Model Based Testing is a test design method that delivers the ability to automatically generate functional test cases with known traceable complete coverage for execution. Users draw or import the positive and negative operation of the application under test (the model) visualizing the flow, then behind this graphical representation is a complex algorithmic engine that interprets the model to automatically think of and design tests with their correct execution results. MBT fixes today’s antiquated test design process. The most expensive part of testing is the manual test design effort. MBT can cut this cost in half. Agile and BDD development need better yet fast testing. Regression test selection is guesswork. MBT changes all this while integrating with the overall testing tool chain to keep the rest of the end to end process unchanged.

Artificial Intelligence in Testing - Test Automation Strategies - Click Here for More Info
Sudeep Kunhikrishnan, Senior Assistant Vice President, EXL ServiceArtificial Intelligence (AI) is a collection of technologies – such as machine learning, speech analytics, natural language processing, predictive analytics and advanced automation that help in extracting insights and patterns from large volume of data and make prediction/automation based on this information. Application of AI as software testing tools/methods make software development lifecycle easier and help in automation automating and reducing repetitive tasks while improving the robustness of the process. This talk intends to provide introduction to AI concepts including machine learning, how the concepts of machine learning and automation can augment current software testing process and how come of the AI concepts such as deep learning and neural networks can improve the robustness of the testing process. Concepts of process and performance mapping will be introduced so that practitioners can implement this in existing software development/testing process to identify and predict flaws thereby improving the overall functionalities and processes involved. Overall, the talk intends to provide a detailed overview of AI concepts such that practitioners can understand how to augment their testing knowledge to improve the process rather than assuming AI is only intended to automate the existing work.

Approaches and Challenges for Testing RPA BOTS- Click Here for More Info
Darshan Dave, Ex Managing Director at State Street / Executive Leader, Growth and Product Management,From the adoption across industries to its depth of purpose in enterprises, RPA is firmly embedded in the strategy of business, operations and IT alike. From performing reconciliations, to preparing reports, sending statement, and even interacting with customers, RPA - BOTS are becoming increasingly sophisticated. For a RPA code or a BOT to run and perform important business operations, interact with customer etc. requires a very high degree of validation rigor and risk containment strategy. However, is such a strategy commonplace? Do organizations have a rigorous mechanism to test, validate and certify BOTS? Are there robust checks and control to identify and contain risks of BOTS deployed in live business environment? . This presentation will discuss the risks and challenges of testing BOTS. And the pros and cons of different test patterns and framework that provides highest levels of confidence in the assuring RPA BOTS.

Banking: A Look At What Is Practical - Click Here for More Info
Rajiv Kumar Singh, VP, Senior Manager, Absa Capital
• The world of financial services is complex, with complex products, methodologies and regulations. These are supported by just as complex processes, systems and technologies. Specifically looking at the context of Corporate and Investment Banking: the products offered generally tends to be non-vanilla, more bespoke and longer term (with very large economic value) for Banking (loan) purposes and also real-time for Trading (derivative) purposes to meet clients’ needs holistically.
• There are large amounts of factors to consider when implementing new system and products (with costs being in the millions of rand and solutions lasting for many years). In the Banking space: efficient and effective agile testing and test automation strategies can be a useful risk management tool; not just to manage system, project and implementation risks; but also minimise business impact for new changes, process and systems that span across the vertical and horizontal corporate structures (including different business units) and the client value chain.
• This presentation looks at the practical consideration and benefits for systems and technology implementations in the Banking space, when it comes to agile testing and test automation; which is based on my experience (and lessons learnt) in implementing business risk management solutions as a Product Owner & Change Manager across the African continent at a leading South African bank.
Rajiv has 11+ years of financial services experience working in different roles within Credit Risk; from PD, EAD, LGD, OTC derivatives statistical modelling for economic and regulatory purposes; and also working on special projects. Over the last 6 years, he has worked on tactical and strategic risk management systems across the African continent. He has also worked on the end-to-end life cycles in the following areas: product (system) development; project management (agile and waterfall); change, process, system management and implementation. A key project has been the Barclays/Absa systems decoupling for the pricing and risking engines (for Corporate & Investment Banking) for the over-the-counter derivative trading book. Rajiv is also a member of Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) and Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), the deputy-chair of the ASSA Systems and Technology Committee and also part of the IAA Banking Working Group.

Make sure your project is on the right track, shift left! - Click Here for More Info
Jaco Marais, Senior Consultant, DevOps, IQbusinessIn a typical project life cycle, you have your basic sequential phases: define, design, develop, detect, deploy. The principle of Shift Left is to take a task (traditionally done at a later stage) and perform that task at earlier stages. Take testing: traditionally testing is done just before deployment. But what if we got involved earlier in the process? Can we detect design or code issues, and solve them early on before they become major? Can we change our approach from detection to prevention?
Speaker Profile:Jaco has worked in the software industry for more than 16 years. He has developed C, C++ and C# applications, he has lead testing teams, he has automated testing, deployment, and monitoring. And now he applies his knowledge and insights as a senior DevOps Consultant, working alongside Agile, Change Management and Organizational Design Specialists. One of his recent projects involved a Agile/DevOps Organisational Transformation to adopt new Ways of Work, based on the SAFe framework.

Stuart Mann, Lean Agile Coach, Standard Bank Group
10 ways that agile is like running a marathon (and what we can learn from that) - instead of sprinting (and gasping for breath after one iteration) we want to jog at an even pace so that we can run forever; plus 9 other factual, humorous and practical insights from a compulsive marathon runner.
Learning Outcomes:
* Practical examples of agile transformations
* Humorous insights into the alignment between marathon running and agile transformations
* A fresh and motivational look at agile transformations The presentation will take a fresh and humorous point-by-point (or should that be step-by-step) look at the how marathon running can help guide agile transformations.
The session will provide 10 insights drawing from the presenters practical experience from the road (whilst running over 200 marathons) and the field (whilst ruining over 200 projects - not really - let’s say practical learnings that will help others in their agile journeys). The presentation will use marathon running to explain why key agile concepts are important and how they apply to your agile transformation.
Stuart Mann is a reformed waterfall guy with a background in analysis on large software development systems who is now a passionate Lean Agile Coach. He is a father (two girls), husband (one wife) and a trainee feminist. In his spare time, Stuart is a compulsive marathon runner. He has run over 200 marathons and ultras. He writes a monthly column for South Africa’s largest running publication (Modern Athlete) and contributes athletics articles to Sport24.
